Imagine growing up with your parents owning an ice cream shop! And not just any ice cream shop, a shop that sources local ingredients like dairy and coffee to create inspired ice cream flavors and sweet treats all in-house. Yum! Well welcome to Hattie Jane’s Creamery located in downtown Columbia, Tennessee. This shop opened on July 1st, which also happened to be owners Claire and Tyler’s daughter, Hattie Jane’s 3rd birthday. What a great birthday party that must have been.
Ice cream has always been this family’s favorite treat and they dreamed about owning their own unique ice cream shop one day. At Hattie Jane’s you can enjoy a variety of flavors. Some of their most popular are classic Chocoholic and the Mulekick Espresso which is made with local Muletown Roasted Coffee beans. This would be my go-to flavor for sure. They also make their waffle cones and bake homemade brownies and cookies. Of course the cookies are used for their ice cream sandwiches. I love that!
So at Make & Taste we always love to see how kids explore the world of food and here Hattie Jane has her own ice cream shop to play and discover food on a daily basis. Being three she’s a great taste tester and her scoop of choice is the Tahitian vanilla topped with rainbow sprinkles. Her mom also told me that she loves to take a pint from the store and gift it to someone she cares about. How sweet is that?!
What can the residents of Columbia, TN expect to see in the future from Hattie Jane’s? Well fall is almost here so prepare for some new flavors such as sweet potato, pumpkin, stout and toasted s’mores. Those all sound so amazing. Also stay tuned for a second Hattie Jane’s Creamery location opening in Murfreesboro, TN next year. Inspired ice cream is coming to a town near you!
A big thank you to Molly of Simply M Photography for her photo story of Hattie Jane’s Creamery, I love how your images brought the story to life. If you are a photographer and have a Make & Taste story to share near you contact me through the Contribute Page.
