In February my toddler and I flew across the country to visit family in San Fransisco. This was a momentous trip considering it was my son’s first flight and he was meeting his new cousin. The trip was amazing and every morning we would walk over to the Little Marina Green to play at the beach and pick up a cappuccino and maple bacon donut at the Dynamo Donut & Coffee shop. Since having Dynamo Donuts signature maple bacon donut, I have always wanted to try making them at home. I had purchased a donut cutter and started researching recipes for inspiration. I found a recipe that didn’t require the dough to rise overnight and I had all the ingredients on hand, so I gave it a try. Since I do not have a gas stove I opted to use my grill, which has a gas burner, as you can see in the images below. It took awhile for the oil to get to temperature because of the wind, but using a heavy bottom pot, like a le creuset is best for this type of recipe.
