When my family and I went to pick out our Christmas tree, I couldn’t help but notice that as soon as I smelled pine from the trees and wreaths, I was instantly in a holiday state of mind. It’s amazing what a simple smell can do. Another favorite holiday smell for me is gingerbread. Although I didn’t grow up making gingerbread, I love the flavor and plan on baking many sweet gingerbread treats with my son. Ever since I purchased a waffle iron, my toddler is always asking to make waffles. It might be because he loves seeing the transformation of batter to waffle or another piece of equipment he can manipulate and hopefully not break. After school I decided to make a batch of gingerbread waffles with him and as soon as the first waffle was ready, he was anxiously waiting for a taste. As I have mentioned in past waffle posts, waffles hold up quite well once frozen, so you can make a large batch and have them ready to eat the next morning. Success!
