Guest Feature: Homemade Edible Cookie Dough

Enjoying cookie dough straight from the mixer is not recommended these days, even though when I was growing up my siblings and I would battle over the beaters.  Thank god homemade edible cookie dough has been created and we can still satisfy that wonderful craving.  There are even companies dedicated to edible cookie dough, such as Cookie DO NYC. Even as I was writing this post the company had to suspend online orders due to popular demand for their products. Their top six flavors are Chocolate Chip, Cake Batter, Heavenly, Confetti, Gimme S’more and Chocolate Dream.  They all sound amazing to me.

It was only a few short weeks ago that schools were closed due to snow here in Connecticut.  During that time I set up a play date with a nearby friend to have our toddlers burn some energy and have some fun.  She had mentioned that when she had baked cookies recently her daughter starting asking for a cookie as soon as the batter was ready.  Needless to say, her toddler wasn’t happy about waiting for the cookies to actually bake.  So during our play date I captured photos of them making a new recipe, Homemade Edible Cookie Dough.  A perfect solution for immediate satisfaction.

This 10-minute recipe has seven simple ingredients and is perfect to make with your toddler all year long.  Ground graham crackers is the main ingredient in this recipe, which provides a great texture.  Of course mini-chocolate chips always is a crowd pleaser.  Scoop it on top of a small dish of vanilla ice cream and you have the perfect treat that satisfies both kids and adults alike!
