Much of the inspiration for my posts come from my childhood memories, food my little kitchen helper is into at a particular time, and items I have discovered visiting local bakeries and candy shops. This post was sparked by one of my most frequented candy shops on Cape Cod, The Chatham Candy Manor. When I saw the handwritten sign for Chocolate Coffee Bark, I knew I had to try some. I love coffee and chocolate so was couldn’t wait to give this new confection a try. Any way caffeine can enter my daily life, I’m all about it. I have made chocolate bark over the holidays and it’s one of the easiest treats I make in my kitchen. After experiencing this Chocolate Coffee Bark, I was inspired to make my own version once I returned home. What a perfect mother’s day gift idea too! Every mom deserves some chocolate with an extra boost of caffeine, am I right?
There are several approaches to this bark. First and the easiest is to sprinkle your favorite whole roasted beans into the melted chocolate, cover with more chocolate and chill in the refrigerator. Your second approach is to chop up the beans so the texture isn’t has crunchy, like in the first scenario. The last approach is to add coffee to the melted chocolate and sprinkle espresso powder onto the chocolate before chilling.
Your kitchen helper will love to sprinkle in the coffee beans or espresso especially if this special treat is for mom. Once chilled just crack into pieces, place in a decorative bag and give the gift you know she will love! Share with your fellow moms.
