Cookies always make a great gift to celebrate someone special. In honor of Mother’s Day, I baked these four Mother’s Day Madeleine cookies that are easy to make and packed with flavor. I wanted to highlight four flavors that would accommodate most palettes. Fresh lemon for those who love citrus, cinnamon with vanilla glaze for the cinnamon roll fan, dark chocolate Espresso for the coffee lover and for those who want a classic flavorful cookie, the Honey Vanilla. After making all four flavors one afternoon I packaged them up and shared them with a few amazing moms that I know. They all enjoyed each flavor, although lemon seemed to be the clear winner.
Here are a few baking notes:
- The batter for each of these Madeleine cookies took minutes to make and then I chilled it in a pastry bag for at least 1 hour.
- I made some adaptions to the Cinnamon Madeleine. The addition of cinnamon chips (removed the 1/4 tsp of cinnamon) and a vanilla glaze made for a perfect cinnamon roll flavor. Cinnamon Madeleine Glaze: 1 cup Powdered Sugar + 1 Tablespoon Milk . Mix for a thick but pourable glaze.
- The lemon madeleines original recipe did not call for the glaze but I wanted to add an additional lemon punch. There is great lemon flavor without it, but who doesn’t like a good glaze. Lemon Glaze: 1 Cup Powdered Sugar + 1 Tablespoon Milk+ 1/2 squeeze of fresh lemon. Mix and taste until desired lemon flavor. Dip cookies into glaze and serve once set.
Ok, so which flavor are you going to try? Leave a comment below.

Lemon Glaze (see above)
My changes: Sub 1/4 Tsp of Cinnamon with 1/4 Cup of Cinnamon Chips
I did NOT use the Hershey Chips or the shortening to make a glaze. See above for my glaze
