Rose’s Berry Farm and Lyman Orchards will be ready for Pick-Your-Own Strawberries season this weekend. If you want to beat the rush, Rose’s Berry Farm opened June 7th and Lyman Orchard’s opens June 8th. We traveled to Rose’s Berry Farm today and we were impressed by how many large size strawberries were available. Of course you can’t beat the view on top of the strawberry field hill at Lyman Orchards. We can’t wait to head over there this season as well. This is the third year my kitchen helper and I have been picking strawberries (among other fruits throughout the summer). We have made so many recipes with our freshly picked strawberries and of course love to eat them as is. What a fun experience and tradition we have created over the years. I believe it’s important to show him how food is grown in order have a greater appreciation and hopefully a healthier lifestyle in the future. I have complied some of our favorite recipes for you to bake with your kitchen helper. Yes, baking with a child under the age of 5 can be messy and stressful but my biggest tip for baking with kids is to measure out all your ingredients before you start the process. This will keep them on task and reduce the mess that happens when measuring cups and spoons are involved. Learn more helpful tips here: Helpful Tips With Baking With Kids)
